Video Views of my Israel Experience

These are a few of my favorite videos that I recorded on my recent tour of Israel on May 2011.

This first video is a view of the Eastern side of the old Jerusalem city walls as our tour guide, Ronnie Cohen, briefs us on the history of Jerusalem.

As we were walking through the Via Dolorosa, behind us, a Spanish group was doing a processional toward Station VIII. This captivated my attention. I felt very emotional as I watched in remembrance of Jesus on his route to Calvary.

May 20, 2011 — As I walk out of Jaffa Gate and into an outdoor mall courtyard area, musicians and Israeli soldiers meet and enjoy a time of music with singing and dancing. During my trip to Israel, I had an inquiring interest of the Israeli soldiers. This was a very candid video as I was caught in the middle of this celebration right before the Sabbath. The soldiers are so young, and they carry their weapons like I would carry my purse.

Here, we stand at the Temple Mount at the Dome of the Spirits. A small, covered area about 5′ in diameter, that is located off to the side away from the Dome of the Rock. The floor there is the bare ground of Mount Moriah. Listen to the description on the video. Pretty amazing!!

Buy-out

You may remember a few years ago when the U.S. government did buy-out plans for certain financial institutions. The government bought-out the debts of corporations as a way to keep the economy afloat instead of continuing downward. Today, I was thinking about this. Not in the way of financial corporations, but about people.

Jesus is our buy-out plan. He came into this world to pay the penalty for our sin. He went to hell and conquered death to save me out of it. Jesus is my big brother that bought me out of hell. I was so far in debt, in sin, that He made a way for me.

And, just like a company remembers the saving grace of a big brother, I too remember my big brother and His saving grace upon my life. With that, a deep sense of gratitude sets in and in giving thanks, I try my best to stay away from the sin that so easily entangled me before. That is how we grow in our gratitude and worship for Christ. In our thankfulness, with the Spirit’s guidance, we sin less because of the gratitude and love we have toward our big brother that bought us out of death.

So what are you going to do? Are you going to keep spiraling down in your hole and hope that you have time in the end for Jesus to buy you out? Are you going to continue and try to get out of your hole on your own? Or, are you going to give in and let Jesus save you now?

Short Words of Jerusalem

Your streets are old
Tainted with the hardness of civilizations
Jerusalem,
One day grand and beautiful
The apple of David’s eye
A temple being planned
with perfection for the only true God
a place of worship
and holiness
of grandness and awe
no statue was to be set there
only the Holy of Holys
the presence of the all mighty
to later be trampled by the evils of men
His men
without regard they deceive
those who truly bring a sacrifice to worship
but God’s worship cannot be fooled
He sees the evil being done
But don’t you realize
He is God!
How can you do such things?
in His house!
In His holy presence?
Do you have no respect?
No love?
No reverence?
He is the Creator!!!
You trampled on His love
You trampled on His Son
You wanted to serve
Your own selfish desires
and hardened your heart
to God himself
in the very flesh.

They were wrong in their actions
but refused to face them
Jesus is the light
and He shined His light on them
and exposed their wrong
maybe they didn’t understand
it was too deep to comprehend
they were brought out in the open
and they didn’t like it
they didn’t want others to think
that they didn’t know what they were doing
so they retaliated in anger
against Jesus

He calls Himself King
He calls Himself God
He says He has a Kingdom
and that He will destroy the temple
Blasphemy they say
Arrest Him!
Beat Him!
and kill Him!

The greatest punishment they gave him
39 lashes that no man had ever survived
then death by suffocation
on a Roman cross

But little did they know
that when He died
He went to conquer a greater punishment

to Hell He went
in our place
to fight for us
and buy us into His perfect love

You see
despite our hate for God
despite our trampling
despite our accusations
despite our blasphemy against him
despite our disrespect
and rejection of Him
He still loves us!
And He still wants to give
a chance to choose Him
To love Him

His greatest love
was when God came in the flesh
to live among men
and die on a cross
but that’s not the extent of His love
Come to Him and know there is more

So, Jerusalem was trampled on
first by its own
then by outsiders
for what we do not love and respect
others will not love and respect

If a wife disrespects her husband
then the children follow
in the same manner
But if a wife rightfully shows respect to her husband
then the children follow
in the same manner

So I will show my love for Jerusalem
and respect her like I would my husband
I will show my love for God
and I pray that others will follow
in the same manner

Bearing the Image of God: The Awakening

Don’t you love it when God puts something on your heart and then by paying attention to the things around you, God answers your questions?

The other morning, as I was waking up, I looked at my alarm clock and I immediately jumped out of bed. Ah, look at the time, I’m going to be super late for work!! I rushed to get ready. I jumped in the shower, brushed my teeth and then looked at the clock again. Wait a second… is that right?? I was actually ahead of schedule. I had read my clock wrong thinking that I was late, but really, I was early. Wide awake, knowing that I now had some extra time in the morning, (and with no intentions of getting to work early), I decided to have some much needed uninterrupted prayer time with God in the morning. Funny how God gets us to spend time with him. He knows what it takes to get our attention. 🙂

In that time, I got the thought to write a little about what it means to “bear the image of God.” This subject had been on my mind for quite some time, and I had noticed throughout the week that God had been dropping me hints about it. So, bear with me as I write a few lessons about what it means to “bear the image of God.” Be gentle… I’m not a profound Bible scholar, I just speak and write based on the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

Jeremiah 33:6

Yesterday morning, I was praying, and I got the thought to pray for healing – physical body healing and health. I prayed for some minor discomforts for myself, for my sister’s shoulder that had been bothering her, and for my other sister who is about 16 weeks pregnant. I prayed for her health and the baby’s health too. I thought it was interesting that I was lead to pray for those things, as this wasn’t something that was already on my mind.

Interesting that on my way to work, I heard a message by Tony Evans regarding how sometimes, the Lord will give us a specific scripture that speaks directly to us in a timely manner.

Well, just a few hours later, I opened my devotional and read this scripture:

Jeremiah 33:6 Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.

In context, the passage is in reference to Israel. Today, He’s talking to all His beloved! Bring your healing requests forth to the Lord, for behold, He will bring health and healing and will reveal abundance. Amen!

Heaven’s Horse and Rider

On Memorial day, I was in the car with my sister and brother-in-law on our way home from the beach. I was driving and we were all fairly quite. Usually, in the car, we may listen to CDs, or turn off the radio so we can talk, but this time, my dial was set low on KSBJ, so I decided to turn it up and sing along loudly. One song after another, I sang loudly, amusing myself and the others in the car I’m sure. The song, “What Do I Know of Holy” by Addison Road was one of the songs that came on. (Read that post.) When it played, I was reminded of my friend from my recent Israel trip. I felt much joy and peace inside. Blazing through the freeway at sunset, the clouds were many and moving quickly. But, at one point as I was observing God’s majestic sky, I saw something. It appeared to look like a horse and a rider coming straight forward. Wow, it was so awesome to see! I don’t often look for images in the clouds. As soon as I saw it, I immediately thought of the Lord and Revelation 19. Wow, it was so cool! I felt as if in my praise and singing, the Lord showed me this in the sky.  To think of the Lord coming similar to how I saw in the clouds was amazing. It was so big and in my face, I couldn’t miss it! Below is an image to help visualize.

Sermons of My Soul Conversion

I have still one day to write out my full testimony of how I came to faith in Jesus Christ, but today I want to share just a small part of that story with you. Actually, it’s the most important part.

Three and a half years ago in my search for spiritual enlightenment, someone shared a sermon with me that changed my life forever. What’s sort of ironic about this particular sermon is that it wasn’t intended for a new seeker of faith like myself. This message was actually directed to an already believing audience that is fighting the modern evangelical church approach. I had to listen to this three times before I could get passed my frustrations in trying to understand all of what was being preached, but finally on that third time of listening, by God’s saving grace, the Gospel became clear to me and my faith was set to never look back.

In my search for something true, spiritual and meaningful, I wasn’t sure where I was going to turn, but instead of turning, God came to meet me right where I was at. I hope that with this sermon, God may meet you wherever you are in your faith. In Jesus’ Name.
